Middle school

The Middle School Program gives continuity to George Washington’s Elementary Program. Our goal is to further and master the complex mathematical, scientific, literary, and social science courses given in English while ensuring the completion of the Secretariat of Education’s subjects.

DISCIPLINES

The goal of the Middle School Reading and Language Arts program is to cultivate literate, thoughtful citizens who are capable of communicating effectively as they negotiate an increasingly complex and information-rich world. The program directs them to refine specific skills and strategies in writing, speaking, reading, viewing, and listening through the study of language and literature.

The math program guides students in gaining mathematical competence as well as confidence. To this end, the sequencing of the program remains flexible to meet the needs of students who may benefit from progressing at an accelerated rate or from additional reinforcement.

The Science Program in Middle School focuses in the development of useable knowledge to explain real world phenomena in the physical, biological, and earth and space sciences.

The Social Studies Program at KGWS offers a thematic approach that provides for the study and understanding of concepts relevant to students’ lives with
particular narrowing of focus from World to U.S. and Mexican Geography, History and Civics.

Additional classes to compliment cognitive and psychomotor development of our students in Elementary School include Physical Education, Technology, Art and Music.
